Bhubaneswar, June 8: The Nandankanan Zoological Park located on Bhubaneswar outskirts has welcomed two new tiger cubs, born to white tigress Mausumi and normal-colored tiger Rajesh. The cubs were born on the night of June 7, with the first arriving at 9:15 PM and the second at 11:03 PM, according to an official statement from the zoo.
While one cub has inherited the traditional orange-and-black stripes, the other has distinctive white fur, marking a significant addition to Nandankanan’s population. As cubs are with their mother after their birth, the zoo has yet to determine their genders. Veterinary experts and zoologists are closely monitoring the health of both the newborns and their mother.
This is the second time Mausumi has given birth, further enriching the park’s thriving tiger population. With these new arrivals, the total number of tigers at Nandankanan has now reached 29, comprising 17 males, 10 females, and these two cubs. Among them, 19 are normal-colored tigers, while six are white tigers.

✨Mausumi and Rajesh were both born at Nandankanan, making this event a continuation of the park’s successful breeding program. Mausumi, a white tigress, was born on August 5, 2016, to Manish and Sneha, while Rajesh, a normal-colored tiger, was born on September 22, 2018, to Roshan and Vijaya.
