Water Resources Employee Critical As He Comes In Contact With Live 33-kv Wire

Puri, Feb 16: An employee of water resources department of Odisha government received critical injuris as he came in contact with a live 33-kv wire at Chitalpur under Balanga water resources sub-division in Puri district this forenoon.


The injured was identified as Rabinarayan Nayak. A resident of Pipili Rupadeipur, Rabinaryan was working as a 'Khalasi' at Balanga water resources sub-division.


According to the information, Rabinarayan was on duty while embankment levelling was being done at Chitalpur last afternoon. He was then holding an iron level stand which, when moved vertically, touched the live wire above his head. As a result, he suffered burn injuries.

He was soon rushed to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. From there, he was shifted to the SCB Medical, Cuttack as his condition worsened. He is currently undergoing treatment there.


Locals have blamed the electricty department as the mishap occurred due to the hanging wire.
