Balasore, Apr 15: In a heart-wrenching incident, two young sisters lost their lives due to drowning in a water-filled pit near their home in Gandhi Chowk under Basta police limits in Balasore district, Odisha.

The victims, aged six, were daughters of Sekh Tairuddin and Sekh Najimuddin. The tragedy unfolded while the girls were playing near their house, unbeknownst to their family members.

The pit, located behind their residence, became a silent trap for the children. When the family noticed their absence, a frantic search ensued, leading to the discovery of the sisters floating in the water.

Despite immediate efforts to rescue them and rush them to Basta Hospital, the attending doctors declared them dead upon arrival.

The untimely demise of the two sisters has plunged the local community into deep sorrow, with residents mourning the loss and expressing concerns over safety measures in the area.
