Sambalpur, Mar 13: A student of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) at Burla in Odisha’s Sambalpur died after drowning at power channel of Hirakud Dam.

The deceased has been identified as Priyanshu Prakash Behera.

According to reports, Priyanshu along with his friends went to the power channel of Hirakud dam to take a bath in the morning. Meanwhile, Priyanshu slipped into the deep water.

However, he was rescued and rushed to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), where he was declared dead by the doctors.

On being informed, police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
