Bhubaneswar, Sep 11: Amid escalating violence in Nepal, thousands of Indian tourists have been left stranded, with Tribhuvan International Airport temporarily shut down. The unrest has disrupted travel across major tourist hubs, including Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Muktinath.
According to official sources, out of nearly 5,000 Indian nationals present in Nepal, several thousand have already been rescued.
In response, the Indian government has launched a coordinated rescue operation, issuing helpline numbers and maintaining constant communication with Nepalese authorities. The Nepal Army has agreed to reopen the airport temporarily to facilitate safe evacuation.

✨Special control rooms have been activated in border states like Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, where high alerts have been issued. Rajasthan Police has formed a dedicated 24x7 cell to assist in the rescue efforts. Many Indian citizens have already crossed the border via Panitanki in Darjeeling district and returned home safely.
Meanwhile, several migrant workers from Pattamundai and Rajnagar areas of Kendrapara district in Odisha remain trapped in Nepal. These individuals had traveled for employment to support their families and are now unable to return due to the ongoing violence. Villagers from Khadipala, Balipatna, Pokhariapara, Taradipal, and Dandisahi are among those affected. Families back home have urged the Odisha government to intervene and facilitate their safe return.
