Bhubaneswar, Sep 22: The Odisha Assembly witnessed a series of hard-hitting revelations on Monday, as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other ministers responded to queries from legislators on corruption, women’s safety, and health indicators.
In a written reply to MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, the Chief Minister disclosed that the Vigilance Department has taken action against 199 government officials over the past 15 months. Of these, 77 cases involved disproportionate assets, while 122 were related to bribery. Assets worth ₹202 crore have been seized. Additionally, 3,661 corruption-related cases are currently under trial, and 722 remain under investigation.

✨In response to BJD MLA Arun Sahoo’s question, CM Majhi revealed that 37,611 cases of crimes against women were registered in the last 14 months. These include 9,181 cases of misconduct, 2,933 rapes, 1,278 sexual assaults, 8,227 abductions, and 5,464 dowry-related incidents. The alarming figures have sparked renewed calls for stronger enforcement and support systems.

three years. Additionally, 34,284 fetal deaths and 2,064 maternal deaths were
recorded.
