Bhubaneswar, July 13: A female student from FM College is currently in critical condition at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, following a suicide attempt. A dedicated team of doctors is administering treatment, with the state government prepared to arrange airlifting if the situation demands. All medical expenses will be borne by the government, as per official communication from the Higher Education Department to the AIIMS Director.
The student’s family has been assured of full support. Meanwhile, the reasons behind her drastic action remain unclear and are now under investigation.
In response, the Higher Education Department has formed a high-level committee consisting of Director Kali Prasanna Mahapatra, Joint Secretary Mousumi Nayak, and Professor Dr. Jhumki Rath. The committee will probe the role of college authorities, including the suspended HOD. The inquiry will also examine the actions of FM College officials and faculty.
Particular scrutiny will be placed on Assistant Professor Sameer Sahu, who is suspended, and the Education Department’s involvement.
Authorities have stated that the investigation will uncover any lapses at both individual and institutional levels.
