Vedanta’s Mega Health Camp Transforms Lives In Odisha’s Remote Villages

Bhubaneswar, Sep 15: In a significant step toward strengthening rural healthcare, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, organized a free multispecialty mega health camp at Gunpur village in Kalahandi district, officials said on Monday.
The initiative, held in collaboration with the District Health Administration, Kalahandi, and Swaraj Hospital, Balangir, benefited over 200 residents from 26 villages across Thuamul Rampur and Kashipur blocks.
The camp provided a wide array of medical services, including consultations in orthopaedics, paediatrics, dermatology, obstetrics and gynaecology, ENT, chest and tuberculosis care. Free medicines were distributed to all attendees, ensuring that quality healthcare reached even the most remote corners of the region.
Inaugurated by Dr. Pradosh Kumar Panda, Block Public Health Officer (CHC Thuamul Rampur), the event marked a collaborative effort between public health officials, local medical professionals, and Vedanta Aluminium’s CSR team. Community representatives also participated, reinforcing the grassroots nature of the initiative.

The company also runs regular eye camps for early detection of vision issues and partners with the government on flagship health programs like Swarna Prashan. Mobile health units and awareness drives further extend their reach.
