Vedanta Lanjigarh Empowers Women With Shakti Kits During Navratri

Key Points

Over 600 Shakti Kits distributed across nine villages during Navratri.

Kits include hygiene essentials, nutrition boosters, and festive items.

Bhubaneswar, Sep 26: In a vibrant blend of festivity and social impact, Vedanta Aluminium has launched a unique initiative this Navratri to empower women in its peripheral villages. Through its ‘Navratri Milap’ programme, the company is distributing over 600 ‘Shakti Kits’, reaching more than 1,500 women across nine villages in Lanjigarh area in Odisha's Kalahandi district, officials said on Thursday.

Shakti Kits: A Celebration of Strength and Wellbeing
Each Shakti Kit is thoughtfully designed to promote women’s health, hygiene, and nutrition. The kits include sanitary napkins, soap, handwash, millet-based sweets, and iron cookware—known to help reduce anaemia. Festive items are also included, turning the distribution into a celebration of care and resilience.

Nine Days, Nine Villages, One Purpose
The initiative spans the nine days of Navratri, with each day dedicated to one village: Putribhata, Khalguda, Balabhadrapur, Kadamguda, Kendubardi, Banigaon, Similibhata, Bundel, and Chanalima. Vedanta representatives are engaging communities through rangoli-making, traditional games, and cultural interactions, making each event a shared celebration.

Leadership Speaks: Inclusive Growth at the Core
Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya, CEO – Vedanta Alumina Business, stated, “Navratri is a celebration of Shakti—strength, care, and resilience. Through the Shakti Kits, we are investing in the wellbeing of women in our villages. This initiative complements our broader social impact programmes in education, healthcare, skill development, and livelihoods.”

Community Connect: Milap’s Festive Edition
‘Navratri Milap’ is a special edition of Vedanta’s flagship Milap programme, which fosters regular engagement between the company and its host communities. The programme benefits over 3,300 people across 16 villages through monthly events that include essential distributions and cultural bonding.
