Key Points

Vedanta Lanjigarh certified Single Use Plastic Free Unit by CII in October 2025

Eliminated 2,500 kg of plastic waste through eco-friendly alternatives

Engaged more than 2,600 employees and partners in awareness drives

Bhubaneswar, Nov 13: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has reached a significant sustainability milestone with its Alumina Refinery at Lanjigarh in Odisha’s Kalahandi district being certified as a Single Use Plastic Free Unit by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), officials said on Thursday.

The certification, awarded in October 2025 under the CII Plastics-use Protocol, recognizes Vedanta’s successful elimination of single-use plastics across its operations and township facilities.

This achievement underscores Vedanta’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sets a benchmark for sustainable practices in India’s manufacturing sector. Over the past year, the refinery implemented a complete ban on single-use plastic items, replacing them with eco-friendly alternatives such as biodegradable containers and cloth bags.
