Samablpur, Mar 18: Vedanta Aluminium said its Jamkhani Coal Mine has won top honours at the Annual Mines Safety Fortnight (AMSF) Awards held in Sambalpur.

The Jamkhani Coal Mine secured the Overall Best Mine Award and also won first prize in the Contractor (MDO) category. It further bagged first place in the Safety Management Plan and Mine Lighting and Illumination Scheme categories.

DGMS-Led Awards Recognise Safety Excellence

The awards, organised under the aegis of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), recognise excellence in mine safety standards across the region.

The honours were received by Vivek Uplanchiwar, chief operating officer of Jamkhani Coal Mines, along with the team and its MDO partner.

A key component of the evaluation was a detailed safety inspection conducted by an external AMSF team comprising 10 subject experts.
