Bhubaneswar, Nov 18: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, has reaffirmed its commitment to community development by enhancing early childhood education across its operational areas, officials said on Tuesday.

More than 450 children from 40 Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) in Jamkhani, Ghogharpalli, and Kuraloi (A) North Coal Mines villages have received interactive learning kits designed to spark curiosity and build foundational skills.

Building on Nand Ghar Programme

This initiative builds on Vedanta’s flagship Nand Ghar programme, launched in 2015 under the Anil Agarwal Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Women & Child Development. Nand Ghars modernise Anganwadi infrastructure nationwide, offering preschool education, nutritious meals, healthcare support, and skill-building opportunities for women. Odisha alone hosts 531 Nand Ghars, serving as safe, well-equipped learning spaces for children.

Voices from the Community

Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, emphasized, “Children represent the promise of tomorrow, and investing in their growth is investing in the future of our nation.” Anganwadi worker Ms. Bishnupriya Goud added, “Children are showing greater interest in learning activities, and parents are also becoming more involved.”

Commitment to Social Impact

Beyond education, Vedanta Aluminium continues to drive transformation in Odisha through initiatives in healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, rural infrastructure, and grassroots sports and culture. Ranked 2nd globally in the S&P Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2024 for aluminium, the company remains a leader in sustainable practices while producing over half of India’s aluminium output.
