Bhubaneswar, Nov 29: Vedanta Aluminium, India's largest aluminium producer, has launched a winter preparedness drive, distributing blankets to more than 3,000 residents in the Sundargarh and Jharsuguda districts of Odisha.
The initiative, which aims to support vulnerable communities during the winter season, targeted villages including Jamkhani, Ghogharpalli and Kuraloi. Recipients included the elderly, pregnant and lactating women, self-help group members, women-led households and persons with disabilities. The company stated it plans to expand the program to reach more communities.
The drive was inaugurated by local officials, including Sanatan Nayak, sarpanch of Kuraloi Gram Panchayat; Rangadhar Dilla, sarpanch of Piplimal Gram Panchayat; and Madhav Barik, panchayat samiti member of Ghogharpalli.
“Children, families, and communities are at the heart of our social impact vision,” said Rajiv Kumar, chief executive officer of Vedanta Aluminium. “Our social interventions are driven by the needs of the communities we serve. This winter preparedness drive reflects that commitment.”
Nayak commended the initiative, stating, “Winters can be particularly challenging for many, especially those with limited means. Vedanta Aluminium’s support during this time is truly meaningful.”
