Rayagada, Aug 25: In a meaningful step toward improving rural healthcare, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, conducted a free eye screening camp at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Kashipur block of Rayagada district.

The initiative, held in collaboration with the LV Prasad Eye Institute, benefitted over 165 residents from Kashipur and surrounding villages.

The camp focused on early detection of common eye conditions such as cataract, pterygium, and refractive errors, aiming to facilitate timely treatment and raise awareness about eye health in underserved communities. The event was inaugurated by Debabrata Mallick, Inspector In-Charge of Kashipur, alongside Dr. Netrananda Naik, Head of CHC Kashipur, and other local healthcare workers and community leaders.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, stated, “Ensuring access to quality healthcare is a cornerstone of our community development efforts. Through initiatives like the eye camp, we strive to bring essential medical services closer to communities that need them most.”

Dr. Netrananda Naik praised the initiative, noting its role in bridging healthcare gaps in rural Odisha. “This camp has significantly advanced eye health awareness and made quality care more accessible to our community,” he said.
