Bhubaneswar, Dec13: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive community development by distributing mobility and hearing assistive devices to differently-abled persons in Odisha’s Sundargarh and Jharsuguda districts, officials said on Friday.
Empowering communities
As part of the initiative, 20 individuals from Chattabar, Kudaloi, Piplimal, and Banjari Gram Panchayats received wheelchairs and hearing aids. The company has announced plans to extend support to 30 more community members, enabling them to lead independent lives.
Collaborative effort
The distribution programme was held in the presence of Dr. Abhilash, Medical Officer at the Primary Health Centre, Bileimunda; Rangadhar Dila, Piplimal Sarpanch; ASHA workers; and local community members. The event highlighted the collaborative spirit between Vedanta Aluminium and grassroots stakeholders.

Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, said the company’s social impact programmes are designed to create equitable opportunities. “Supporting differently-abled persons with mobility and hearing aids empowers them to live independently and strengthens community inclusion,” he noted.
Dr. Abhilash, Medical Officer at PHC Bileimunda, added that
access to assistive devices significantly improves mobility, communication, and
quality of life. “Vedanta’s initiative is a meaningful step towards enabling
healthier, more independent lives,” he said.
