Bhubaneswar, Aug 6: In a landmark initiative dedicated to adolescent health, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, conducted a week-long campaign promoting menstrual hygiene and wellness across rural schools in Odisha, officials said on Wednesday.

Covering over 18 schools in Jamkhani, Kuraloi, and Ghogharpalli, the programme positively impacted more than 1,100 students from standards 6 to 10.

Focused on dismantling taboos and fostering open dialogue around menstruation and puberty, Vedanta introduced interactive educational sessions supported by the distribution of sensitisation tools like heat bags and ‘Menstrupedia’ booklets. These resources encouraged understanding of personal health, emotional changes, and proper hygiene, helping students navigate adolescence with confidence and dignity.

Volunteer participation by Vedanta employees added a human touch to the outreach, bridging corporate goodwill with grassroots engagement. Sessions highlighted the physiological changes adolescents experience and emphasized the importance of early awareness in preventing long-term health challenges.
