Bhubaneswar, Aug 14: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has launched a series of targeted monsoon health initiatives aimed at strengthening community well-being in the districts of Rayagada and Kalahandi. These efforts are part of the company’s ongoing Mobile Health Unit (MHU) program under its broader community development initiatives.
As part of the campaign, over 1,500 residents received free malaria testing, guidance on symptom recognition, and education on preventive measures such as sanitation, mosquito net usage, and eliminating stagnant water—key steps in curbing seasonal disease outbreaks. Additionally, a monsoon preparedness session was conducted with 80 Self-Help Group (SHG) women from five villages, covering household hygiene, safe drinking water access, snake bite prevention, and first-response protocols.
Vedanta Aluminium’s MHU program has already provided quality healthcare to more than 20,000 residents across 35 remote villages in Rayagada and Kalahandi. Over the past two years, the company has organized more than 2,000 free health camps, bridging critical healthcare gaps in underserved regions. Each MHU is a fully equipped medical van staffed by a doctor, nurse, lab technician, and pharmacist, offering check-ups, screenings, blood sugar tests, essential medicines, and regular awareness sessions.
