VeDakshata Empowers Rural Youth with Skills and Sustainable Livelihoods

Through VeDakshata, its flagship skill development initiative, Vedanta Aluminium is helping youth acquire industry-relevant skills, secure jobs and build sustainable livelihoods, thereby creating a pathway to economic independence and social empowerment.
Implemented in partnership with the Socio-Economic and Educational Development Society (SEEDS), the programme offers training in a range of trades, including Mobile Repairing, Sewing Machine Operations, Food & Beverage Services and Assistant Electrician. Beyond technical expertise, participants are also equipped with communication skills, workplace etiquette and professional confidence to enhance their employability.

✨Gomati Mahakul, who completed the Sewing Machine Operator course and is now employed with Shahi Exports Pvt. Ltd. in Bhubaneswar, said the programme gave her the confidence to pursue employment and become financially independent.
Similarly, Salim Tupun, now working with Nija Manpower Service in Hyderabad after completing the Assistant Electrician course, credited the programme for providing practical exposure and technical skills that helped shape his professional journey.
Mentorship and Guidance
A key strength of VeDakshata lies in its network of trainers and mentors who support participants throughout the learning process. Apart from technical instruction, they focus on building professionalism, discipline and workplace readiness among trainees.
Narayan Das, Programme Manager of VeDakshata, said the initiative continues to create opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds and enables them to adapt to evolving workplace requirements.
Community Impact
According to Vedanta Aluminium, the programme has empowered more than 16,000 young women and men through skill development initiatives across Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
Sunanda Kalo, Sarpanch of Garjanjore Gram Panchayat, observed that the programme has significantly boosted confidence and aspirations among local youth, encouraging more young people to explore skill development and employment opportunities.
