Puri, Apr 12: The long-awaited Puri-Konark rail line is set to become a reality as land acquisition for the project is currently in progress.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, during his recent visit to Puri, announced that the land acquisition process is expected to be completed within the next 12 to 16 months. Following this, work on the rail line will commence, paving the way for seamless connectivity between the two iconic destinations.

The Railway Minister also reviewed the redevelopment work at Puri Railway Station, which is underway since 2023. The station is being transformed into a world-class facility under the Amrit Station Scheme, blending heritage aesthetics with modern amenities.

Vaishnaw expressed satisfaction with the progress and emphasised the importance of timely completion.

Accompanied by Puri MP Sambit Patra and senior railway officials, the minister highlighted the government's commitment to enhancing rail infrastructure in Odisha. The Puri-Konark rail line is expected to boost tourism and provide a convenient travel option for pilgrims and visitors alike.
