Union Minister Pradhan Meets Young Odisha Mountaineers, Lauds Jogabyasa Bhoi's Dedication

Bhubaneswar, Apr 9: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Wednesday met young mountaineers from Odisha along with Jogabyasa Bhoi, who scaled the highest peaks of five continents including the highest of them all - the Mt Everest - in 2011.

During the interaction, the Union Minister appreciated the dedication led by Jogabyasa Bhoi in building the future of young mountaineers of the State.

Taking to X, the Union Minister said: "Delighted to meet young mountaineers from Odisha along with Shri Jogabyasa Bhoi. It was a pleasure to interact with them and know more about their mountaineering expeditions as well as their passion for adventure sports. Their sense of purpose, dedication and grit was truly amazing."

"An internationally acclaimed mountaineer and a teacher by profession, Jogabyasa ji has been training climbing enthusiasts in and around Kalahandi district and helping budding mountaineers scale new peaks. Appreciate his dedication to share his expertise and provide the right training to those passionate about mountaineering without any cost. Encouraged Jogabyasa ji to build mountaineering clubs across Odisha. Have assured him of the required support in developing a strong mountaineering culture and facilities in Odisha," read the post.

Jogabyasa Bhoi is known for scaling Mount Everest and other high peaks, including Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kangri. He is also an adventure instructor and cyclist.

Worth mentioning, Jogabyasa Bhoi successfully summited Mount Everest on May 18, 2011.

A teacher in Rupra Upper Primary School and a native of Rupra village in Kalahandi, 38-year-old Jogabyasa imparts practical and theoretical mountaineering skills to youths every weekend and all holidays.
