New Delhi, Mar 24: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has requested Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy to announce a ‘Production Incentive Bonus’ for employees of National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO).
The proposal aims to boost worker morale and recognize their contribution to the company’s record performance.
In the financial year 2024-25, NALCO achieved a profit before tax (PBT) of ₹7,135 crore, a historic milestone that highlights the company’s efficiency and resilience.
Union Minister Pradhan emphasized that this success was
possible due to the relentless dedication and hard work of every worker and
employee. He noted that the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) Coordination
Committee had also recommended sharing a portion of the profits with employees
in the form of a production incentive.

The Union Education Minister recalled that a similar incentive was provided in 2021-22, which had significantly boosted enthusiasm among workers. He expressed confidence that such a measure would once again inspire employees, strengthen their commitment, and enhance productivity, ultimately contributing to NALCO’s future growth and profitability. He urged the Coal and Mines Minister to consider the proposal with compassion, keeping in mind both organizational excellence and worker welfare.
The meeting was attended by Dhenkanal MP Rudra Narayan Pany, Mayurbhanj MP Naba Charan Majhi, Angul MLA Pratap Chandra Pradhan, and members of the BMS Coordination Committee. Their presence underscored the collective support for the initiative, reflecting the importance of employee welfare in sustaining industrial success.
By advocating for production-linked incentives, Dharmendra Pradhan has highlighted the crucial role of workers in NALCO’s achievements and reinforced the government’s commitment to balancing corporate growth with employee welfare.
If approved, the incentive scheme could set a precedent for
other public sector enterprises.
