Puri, June 2: Union Minister and BJP Lok Sabha candidate, Dharmendra Pradhan and leader Sambit Patra met family members of the deceased who lost their lives in a firecracker explosion in Puri. The incident happened Wednesday night during lord Jagannath's Chandan Yatra.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, "Some days ago in Puri, a tragedy happened. A lot of people lost their lives due to the firecracker explosion. Some were injured and admitted to the hospital. I met with family members of the deceased."

Pinak Mishra, SP Puri said, "Several people were injured in a fire incident while bursting firecrackers. A rescue team reached the spot and all the injured were sent to SCB Hospital, Cuttack."

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed grief at the incident and said that he has directed his chief administrative secretary and the district administration to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
