Bhubaneswar, Oct 5: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan paid tribute to youngest freedom fighter Baji Rout on his birth anniversary.
Pradhan garlanded the Baji Rout statue located at Unit-8 in Bhubaneswar.
''After the Sahibzadas, if someone gave his life for the country at an early age, it was Baji Rout... He was just 12 when he sacrificed his life", said Pradhan.

Baji Rout, India's youngest freedom fighter and martyr, was born in Dhenkanal, Odisha. At just 12 years old, he was fatally shot by British police on October 11, 1938, for refusing to ferry them across the Brahmani River.
Union Minister Pradhan also participated in the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' programme at Mangalabasti along with planting trees at Chandrasekharpur Buddha Park.
