Argus News - Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Expresses Grief Over Loss Of Lives In Cuttack Road Accident

Bhubaneswar, Jan 2: Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday expressed grief over the loss of lives in a tragic road accident in Odisha's Cuttack district which claimed three lives and left 40 people injured.

"I am saddened to hear the news of the loss of lives in a tragic road accident near Katarpada under Nischintakoili block in Cuttack district. My condolences to those who lost their lives in the accident. May the immortal soul rest in peace. I express condolences to the bereaved family. I also wish for speedy recovery of all the people injured in this accident," Pradhan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

At least three persons were killed and 40 others were injured after a private bus collided head-on due to dense fog near Katarpada under Nischintakoili block in Odisha's Cuttack district on Tuesday morning.

According to sources, the private bus named ‘Manorama’ carrying around 60 passengers was on its way to Cuttack from Kendrapara when it hit a truck coming from the opposite direction due to dense fog. The front parts of both vehicles were completely damaged, sources said.

Three persons travelling in the bus were killed while the injured persons including the drivers of the bus and truck have been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Though the exact reason behind the accident has not been ascertained yet, it is suspected that dense fog and the resultant reduction of visibility might have caused the mishap, sources said.
