Sambalpur, Aug 28: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan participated in multiple “Nuakhai Bhetghat” gatherings organized by various cultural and youth organizations in Sambalpur, emphasizing the need to showcase the region’s rich heritage on the global stage.

The events were hosted by Odisha Sanskritik Samaj, Pandit Lakshminarayan Cultural Council, Chitrotpala Yuvak Sangha, and Samaleswari Yuvak Sangha. During the celebrations, Pradhan honoured distinguished individuals and organizations with the “Nuakhai Samman” for their contributions to society and culture.
Speaking at the event, Pradhan highlighted Sambalpur’s immense potential and the strength of its youth. He stressed the importance of collective responsibility in elevating Sambalpur’s identity globally. “Students from Burla Engineering College are already making their mark internationally. We must now plan for a New Age Economy in Sambalpur,” he said.

The Minister proposed the creation of a modern center for Sambalpuri art and culture, skill development initiatives for youth, and employment generation. He also advocated for the inclusion of traditional delicacies like ‘Sarsatia’ under the Geographical Indication (GI) tag to preserve and promote local culinary heritage.
Pradhan urged citizens to keep Sambalpur clean and beautiful, reduce single-use plastic, and embrace sustainable practices. He emphasized that Nuakhai is not just a harvest festival but a celebration of unity and shared purpose. “With unity, we can lead the world. A developed Sambalpur will contribute to a developed Odisha and a developed India,” he added.
