Angul, Aug 27: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday visited PM Shri Pabitra Mohan Government High School at Kaniha in Odisha’s Angul district, where he shared a mid-day meal with students and inaugurated a newly constructed kitchen facility.
The Union Minister was warmly welcomed by students and staff as he toured the school premises. He inaugurated the newly built kitchen, designed to support the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, which provides nutritious meals to schoolchildren across India. The facility is expected to enhance hygiene and efficiency in meal preparation, benefiting hundreds of students daily.

✨Following the inauguration, Pradhan joined students for lunch, sitting among them and sharing a simple yet symbolic meal. His interaction with the children was filled with warmth and encouragement, as he emphasized the importance of nutrition in education and the role of schools in shaping future citizens.

Later, the Minister also participated in a tree plantation drive within the school campus, promoting environmental awareness and sustainability. Speaking to the media, he said, “Schools are not just centers of learning—they are spaces of empowerment, equality, and growth. Every child deserves a nurturing environment, and we are committed to making that a reality.”
Earlier in the day, Pradhan paid floral tributes at the statue of late Pabitra Mohan Pradhan, a prominent freedom fighter of Odisha and the Praja Mandal movement in Talcher area, in Kaniha. He also paid floral tributes at the "Talcher Praja Mandal Shaheed Smriti Stambh" in the same locality. "The sacrifices, valor, and bravery of all the heroic freedom fighters who became martyrs in the Praja Mandal movement will remain eternally memorable," he said.
The Minister’s visit to the school reflects the broader vision of the PM SHRI scheme, which aims to transform schools into model institutions with modern infrastructure, inclusive education, and community engagement.
