Cuttack, July 15: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was on Tuesday conferred with the prestigious Kalinga Ratna Award by President Droupadi Murmu during the 600th birth anniversary of legendary poet Adikabi Sarala Das.

The award ceremony took place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack, as part of the 45th annual celebration organised by the Sarala Sahitya Sansad.

The Kalinga Ratna, which recognises outstanding contributions by Odias at the national or international level, was presented in the presence of dignitaries including Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

Dharmendra Pradhan, known for his impactful leadership in education, petroleum, and skill development, was lauded for his role in implementing the National Education Policy 2020 and his broader contributions to public service. The award included a silver Saraswati idol, a citation, and a ceremonial stole.

Born in Talcher in 1969, Pradhan has held multiple ministerial roles and is recognised for his grassroots leadership and national influence. His recognition as Kalinga Ratna adds another feather to his illustrious career.
