Bhubaneswar, Apr 4: In a significant development for Odisha, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved four railway projects nationwide, with two aimed specifically at enhancing the state's connectivity. The projects are part of the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan, focusing on multi-modal integration and seamless transportation.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for prioritising Odisha's development.
He remarked that the consistent approval of key infrastructure projects highlights the Centre's commitment to the state. The CM also thanked Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for his efforts, expressing optimism that these initiatives will transform Odisha into a growth engine for the nation.
The two approved projects include the Sambalpur – Jarapda (Talcher, Angul) third and fourth railway lines, and the Jharsuguda – Sason (Sambalpur) third and fourth lines. The Sambalpur-Jarapada project entails an investment of Rs 3,917 crore, while the Jharsuguda-Sason project requires Rs 1,187 crore. Combined, the two projects account for an allocation of Rs 5,104 crore.
These projects are expected to enhance railway operations, alleviate congestion, and improve connectivity in Sambalpur, Angul, and Jharsuguda districts. Additionally, they will facilitate the smooth transport of goods and passengers, contributing significantly to the region's economy.
