Bhubaneswar, Aug 8: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a fresh advisory directing all universities and colleges to observe Anti-Ragging Day on August 12, followed by Anti-Ragging Week from August 12 to 18, as part of its annual awareness campaign launched in 2023.
The initiative aims to reinforce the message of zero tolerance toward ragging in higher educational institutions and promote a safe, inclusive campus environment. Institutions have been asked to organise a variety of student-led activities to raise awareness and encourage participation.
To raise awareness, the UGC has recommended the educational institutions to organise activities like poster-making, quizzes, and essay competitions.
Institutions are also encouraged to set up selfie corners, screen anti-ragging short films, and share video messages from heads of institutions to amplify the campaign’s reach.
All participating institutions must upload details, photos, and videos of their activities to the official anti-ragging portal- antiragging.in, it added.
The UGC emphasised that these observances are part of its mandatory anti-ragging regulations, and institutions must ensure strict compliance, including monitoring mechanisms and reporting protocols.
