Bhubaneswar, Apr 13: A one-and-a-half-year-old baby boy was allegedly kidnapped from near her visually impaired mother near the Ram Mandir in Bhubaneswar late on Saturday night.

According to reports, the incident took place at around 2 AM when the woman, identified as Jayanti Mallick had temporarily settled near Ram Mandir, where she often sought alms. Meanwhile, an unidentified miscreant snatched the child and disappeared.

Following the incident, the woman, helpless due to her disability, lodged a complaint at the Kharavel Nagar police station.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case and initiated a probe into the incident.

Preliminary reports suggest that the perpetrator may have been present in the area seeking alms the previous night.

The tragic story has raised concerns about the safety of vulnerable individuals in the community, and it is hoped that justice will prevail soon.
