Sundargarh, Mar 18: In a tragic incident, a person was killed and five others sustained critical injuries as a jeep in which they were traveling was hit by a car in the Kendamal bridge under the Dharuadihi police station limits in Sundargarh district this afternoon.   

The deceased has been identified as Maheswar Patel, aged about 67, of Birabara village. The injured have been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Sundargarh. 

According to the information, the commander van carrying some passengers was on its way from Sundargarh when a car coming at a high speed from the opposite hit it. As a result,  a person was killed and five were injured. 

The police seized the two vehicles. They also seized a pistol from the driver-owner of the car. The police are now interrogating him to know from which source he had brought the pistol and if it was legally possessed by him.
