Cuttack, Apr 22: Two police personnel died while another sustained critical injuries when a sand-laden Hyva truck rammed into a Police Control Room (PCR) van during patrolling on the Cuttack-Paradip road in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to reports, the incident occurred when the police personnel were on a patrolling duty. Meanwhile, the driver of the hyva truck lost control over the wheels and rammed the vehicle into the PCR van near Gatiroutpatna. As a result, the two police personnel, whose identities were not ascertained immediately, died on the spot, while another official, who is critically injured in the mishap, has been rescued and reportedly undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

On the other hand, the driver of the truck has been detained, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
