Boudh, Aug 8: Two persons were killed after their motorcycle collided head-on with a speeding bus near Gajarajpur under Baunsuni police limits in Boudh district late last night.
The deceased were identified as Amit Jankar from Pinglabeda village and Siddhant Pradhan from Krushnapali village.
According to reports, the incident took place on National Highway 57 when a passenger bus, en route from Bhubaneswar to Umerkote, crashed into the motorcycle coming from opposite direction. The bus, reportedly driven at high speed, struck the motorcycle near Gajarajpur. The impact of the accident was so severe that the victims died on the spot.
Following the incident, Baunsuni police reached the spot and launched an investigation.
Preliminary reports suggest possible negligence or over speeding on the part of the bus driver.
Fortunately, none of the bus passengers suffered any injuries. However, the deaths of the two local residents triggered grief and shock among the locals.
