Paradip, Sep 5: A tragic mishap occurred at Paradip Port early on Friday morning when two crew members of MV Lucky Dragon fell into the sea while disembarking from the vessel.
According to reports, the incident took place around 6:00 AM at the Paradip International Cargo Terminal (PICT) berth, a restricted zone within the port.
The vessel had docked at the berth under tight security protocols. Despite precautionary measures, two crew members reportedly slipped and fell into the water while attempting to disembark.
While One of them was rescued immediately, the other remained missing. Following this, a search operation was initiated.
Reportedly, ODRAF (Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force) team from Jagatsinghpur is at the spot and assisting in the search.
CISF personnel, marine police, and port authorities are also coordinating in rescue operations.
Divers and patrol boats have been deployed, and officials have indicated that NDRF may be called in if necessary.
Preliminary reports suggest the crew members may have slipped on a wet surface, though the exact cause is yet to be determined.
