Ganjam, Jun 25: Two cars caught fire and were reduced to ashes following a rear-end collision on the National Highway near Chamakhandi Chhak under Chamakhandi police limits in Ganjam district.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

According to reports, the accident occurred as one car, en route from Chhatrapur to Brahmapur, was struck from behind by another vehicle. Moments after the crash, both cars caught fire and were soon engulfed in flames.

However, the occupants of both vehicles managed to escape in time, averting a tragedy.

On being informed, firefighters from Chhatrapur Fire Department rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Soon, the situation was contained before it could escalate further.

Chamakhandi police reached the site and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident and subsequent fire.
