Twin Low-Pressure System Forms Over Bay Of Bengal, IMD Issues Rain Alert Till July 17

Bhubaneswar, July 14: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded rain alert for several districts of the state following the formation of two new low-pressure areas.
According to the latest update by the weather agency, a low pressure area has formed over northwest Madhya Pradesh and its adjoining areas, while another system has developed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha.
Under the influence of this, several districts will witness rainfall activities till July 17, said the IMD.
While heavy to very heavy rainfall will lash several parts of Odisha, especially along the coastal belt and northern districts, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 km/h) are forecasted till July 17.
The weather agency has issued orange alert for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh districts while a yellow alert has been sounded for the ditricts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, and Ganjam.
The IMD has also advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea due to rough conditions and potential squalls.
