Bhubaneswar, Mar 11: A tusker has been spotted roaming in the cashew gardens near AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Forest officials are closely monitoring the elephant’s movements.
According to reports, the tusker has somehow wandered into the cashew gardens Monday night. Information says that the tusker is from Khordha forest range.
The forest officials are trying to guide the tusker towards Chandaka sanctuary. The forest officials have also urged the nearby locals to stay alert.
Reacting to the situation, Uttam Kumara Gadanayak, Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), City Forest Division, has said that the tusker might have separated from its group and wandered into the cashew gardens.
“The tusker is safe and roaming in the cashew gardens,” stated ACF Gadanayak. He said that the forest department is closely monitoring the movement of the tusker.
“We have alerted the nearby locals. We will try to guide the tusker towards the Khordha forest range in the evening,” the City Forest Division ACF signed off.
