Bhubaneswar, Jan 8: Hundreds of tribals under the aegis of Adivasi Mahasanga Odisha took out a rally here in protest against the transfer of forestland to companies at the cost of their livelihood.
More than 500 tribals moved on the Mahatma Gandhi road here holding placards and beating drums. Odia messages in some of the placards read as "Leave company love, the government; we need mother earth", "Tribals' call- water, forest, and land are ours", "Adivasi youth power calls- Struggle and study should go along" and "The government, you govern the country, Adivasis are real owners of it".
"The State government is leasing out our land to companies in the name of development. As a result, we have lost our livelihood source. This government is anti-tribal," demanded protestors.
