Asika, Aug 29: A devastating road accident near Dhaugaan Chhak under Dharakot police limits has claimed the life of one person. The deceased has been identified as Basanta Parida, a resident of Dhaugaan village.

According to reports, the incident occurred when a speeding truck lost control and rammed into multiple objects in a series of collisions. 

The truck first struck a pedestrian, then crashed into a roadside shop, and finally mounted a parked motorcycle before coming to a halt.

The impact of the acident was so severe that Parida succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

On being informed, police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.

While the body of the deceased has been seized for post-mortem, the truck driver was detained for questioning.

A formal investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident and assess whether negligence or mechanical failure played a role.
