Angul, Aug 31: A tragic incident unfolded in Sapoinali village under Bagdia police limits in Angul district, where a lightning strike claimed the life of a woman farmer and left another critically injured.
The deceased has been identified as Sumati Behera of Majhimunta Sahi, while the injured woman, Hina Behera, is currently undergoing treatment at a local medical facility. According to reports, the two women — who were relatives — had been working in a nearby field, applying fertilizer before returning home.
As heavy rain and thunder began, they sought shelter under a tree near the field. Unfortunately, lightning struck the tree, killing Sumati Behera on the spot and severely injuring Hina Behera.
