Berhampur, Aug 3: In a devastating incident on Sunday, six migrant workers from Odisha lost their lives in a granite quarry accident near Ballikurava in Andhra Pradesh’s Bapatla district.
The tragedy occurred just minutes after the workers began their shift around 9 am, when a massive portion of the quarry’s edge collapsed during a blasting operation.
According to police sources, 15–20 workers were present at the site when the rockslide occurred. The victims were engaged in routine mining work when the boulders gave way, trapping several under the debris. Rescue operations were swiftly launched by local police and revenue officials.
