Puri, Jul 27: A tourist from Chhattisgarh tragically drowned while taking bath in the sea in Odisha's Puri on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Mukesh Gupta.

According to reports, Gupta was bathing in the sea near Pink House Beach this morning when he swept away in the current of a high tide. He was rescued and immediately rushed to the district headquarter hospital. However, he was declared brought dead by doctors.

The circumstances surrounding the drowning is being probed, and local authorities have urged caution for beachgoers, especially as seasonal tides pose unpredictable risks.

This unfortunate event serves as a reminder for tourists to heed safety advisories and remain vigilant while enjoying coastal attractions.
