Berhampur, Jul 14: In a strict enforcement of traffic regulations, an auto-rickshaw driver in Ganjam district was slapped with a hefty fine of ₹32,000 for violating multiple rules.

 

The incident occurred when the vehicle was intercepted by the Transport Department while coming from Mandiapalli.

 

According to Ganjam Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI), the auto was found driving on the wrong side of the road, which initially drew the attention of authorities. Upon inspection, it was revealed that the vehicle lacked valid insurance, pollution clearance, and a proper permit — all mandatory documents for commercial vehicles.

 

The Transport Department immediately issued a challan, imposing fines under various sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. The total penalty amounted to ₹32,000, which the driver was required to pay on the spot.
