Mayurbhanj, June 22: A trader reportedly died due to the explosion of firecrackers at his shop in Mahulapatana village under the Baishinga police station limits in Mayurbhanj district today. 

The deceased was identified as Khageswar Palei alias Badal (56) of Mahulapatana village. 

According to the information, Khageswar was doing firecracker business for long. At around 2 pm today, firecrackers and explosives kept for making crackers exploded after catching fire from an unknown source. The house was burnt and Khageswar died receiving severe burn injuries.   

While the source of the fire was yet to be known, it is suspected that an electric short circuit might have caused the mishap. 

The Baishinga police have started an investigation.
