Bhubaneswar, July 14: President Droupadi Murmu, will begin her official visit to Odisha today, and will participate in a series of academic and cultural events in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
Upon her arrival at Biju Patnaik International Airport this afternoon, the President will proceed directly to the convocation ceremony of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where she is scheduled to deliver an address and confer degree certificates to 643 graduates, along with presenting 59 gold medals to 31 outstanding students across various disciplines.
On the second day of her visit, the President will preside over the 13th annual convocation of Ravenshaw University in Cuttack. As part of her engagements, she will also lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of three buildings at Ravenshaw Girls’ High School, highlighting her commitment to educational infrastructure and women’s empowerment.
Additionally, President Murmu will participate in the birth anniversary celebrations of Adikabi Sarala Das, a revered literary figure of Odisha known as the first poet of Odia literature. In recognition of contributions to society, she will present the Kalinga Ratna Award-2024 during the cultural program.
The two-day visit underscores the President’s strong connection to Odisha, her home state, and her consistent support for initiatives that foster education, literature, and social development.
