Bhubaneswar, Sep 23: Three men accused of gang-raping a young woman in Bhubaneswar after allegedly intoxicating her with a spiked cold drink are set to undergo a Test Identification (TI) parade on Wednesday.

The accused — Chandan Kumar Hati, Prasanna Kumar Acharya, and Rajesh Kumar Das — are currently lodged in Jharpada Jail and will be presented before the survivor for identification in the presence of a magistrate.

The TI parade is being conducted following court approval, with the Commissionerate Police initiating the process. The survivor will identify the accused from a lineup that includes multiple individuals, a standard procedure to ensure impartiality and accuracy.

According to police reports, the incident occurred under the pretext of music training. The accused allegedly invited the woman to a guesthouse, where they served her a cold beverage laced with intoxicants. Once incapacitated, she was reportedly subjected to sexual assault by the trio.

The case was registered at the Mahila Police Station, and all three accused were arrested on September 13 and produced before the court. The investigation has since gained momentum, with authorities treating the matter with utmost seriousness.

The TI parade is a crucial step in the legal process, as it helps establish the survivor’s ability to recognize the perpetrators. Police officials have confirmed that all necessary protocols will be followed to ensure the integrity of the identification process.
