Balasore/Cuttack/Koraput, Apr 6: At least three persons were killed in a road accident after a truck rammed into another parked vehicle from behind on National Highway-16 near Dahisada, in front of Modern Hotel under Soro police station limits in Odisha's Balasore district late Sunday night.
According to a source, a truck travelling from Balasore towards Soro crashed into a stationary truck parked along the roadside. The impact left three occupants trapped inside the vehicle.
Fire services personnel reached the spot and used gas cutters to rescue the victims.
“The injured were pulled out and shifted to a nearby hospital in an ambulance, where doctors declared all three dead,” the source informed.

Soro police seized both vehicles and launched an investigation. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
Two Overloaded Hyvas Seized
In a crackdown on overloading, officials seized two Hyva trucks carrying excess stone chips near Sompur Bazar under Kishannagar tehsil on the Cuttack–Paradip road.
A source said the vehicles were intercepted while heading towards Paradip. The Additional Tehsildar of Kishannagar seized both trucks and handed them over to Kishannagar police for further action.
Youth Dies in Mahendragiri Hills
A man from Niali area in Cuttack district died after being caught in a thunderstorm while visiting the Mahendragiri hills.
According to our source from the ground, four persons from Olatpur police station area in Cuttack had gone on a trip when they went missing during a sudden storm.
“One body was recovered early this morning, while the remaining three individuals have been found safe,” the source informed.
The deceased was identified as Binod Jena. Among the survivors, one is reportedly a journalist.
