Rayagada, May 21: At least three persons were killed after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Vansadhara River Bridge under Gumuda Police jurisdiction in Rayagada district on Wednesday.

The deceased persons were identified as Bulu Sabar, Subrat Sabar, and Balakrishna Araka.

According to reports, the victims, all friends, were on their way to attend Thakurani Jatra, a significant cultural festival at Tarini village. Meanwhile, an unidentified vehicle hit their bike and fled away.

Following the incident, two persons died on the spot, while one youth reportedly succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment.

Later, on being informed, police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the incident.

Local authorities have filed a case, and investigations are underway to identify the vehicle involved in the accident.
