Three Held For Duping People On Pretext Of Providing Jobs In Mayurbhanj

Mayurbhanj, Mar 21: Police here has arrested three persons including a school teacher for allegedly duping people of lakhs on pretext of providing government jobs.

According to reports, the fraud came to light after one Brundaban Marandi, Assistant Block Education Officer (ABEO) of Khunta region, lodged a complaint against one Manoj Acharya, an assistant teacher at Bairatpur School under Udala police limits.

Based on the complaint, Khunta police arrested three persons in connection with the case and initiated a probe.

During the investigation, it was ascertained that Manoj allegedly defrauded many people on pretext of providing government jobs.

In December, Manoj took an advance payment of Rs 1.3 lakh from Brundaban Marandi and assured him a GRS (Gram Rozgar Sevak) job for his nephew. Manoj, however, failed to provide the job, and did not returned the money. Angered over, Brundaban filed an FIR with Khunta Police.

Taking note of the report, police arrested Manoj Acharya and his two other associates- Dillip Jena from the Udala region and Lohitash Jena from Kalikapur village in Baripada district late last night.

Police said the accused confessed to have scammed over 15 youths from areas including Udala, Khunta, Baripada, and Jharpokharia under the pretext of providing government jobs.
