hMalkangiri, Dec 29: Police on Sunday arrested three hardcore Women Maoists on the charge of torturing and attacking people in the Swabhiman area in Malkangiri district over a long period.

The arrested Maoists were identified as Swapna alias Chandrama Khila, Babita alias Kamala Khila, and Sunita Khila, all residents of Dhakadapadara village under the Jodamba police station in the Swabhiman area.

Of them, Swapna had been an active member of the banned CPI (Maoist)'s Andhra-Odisha zonal committee since 2018 and was carrying an award of Rs 4 lakh on her head on behalf of the Odisha government.

Babita and Sunita were carrying an award of Rs 2 lakh each on their heads. Swapna was involved in encounters in Andrapalli, Boiguda, Ghodabeda of Koraput, Jajabeta, and Daladali of Mathili. She was also involved in tribals' house-burning cases.
